C*-algebra generated by projections
The universal C*-algebra generated by n projections has been described. As an immediate corollary one obtains structure theorem for a pair of projections and the solution to an associated index problem. This puts the study of a pair of projections in the proper perspective of noncommutative geometry. keyword: Index problem, crossed product, Fredholm module, pair of projections. MSC 46L87.
متن کاملA Formula for the Jones-wenzl Projections
I present a method of calculating the coe cients appearing in the Jones-Wenzl projections in the Temperley-Lieb algebras. It essentially repeats the approach of Frenkel and Khovanov in [4] published in 1997. I wrote this note mid-2002, not knowing about their work, but then set it aside upon discovering their article. Recently I decided to dust it o and place it on the arXiv — hoping the self-c...
متن کاملDipolar extracellular potentials generated by axonal projections
Extracellular field potentials (EFPs) are an important source of information in neuroscience, but their physiological basis is in many cases still a matter of debate. Axonal sources are typically discounted in modeling and data analysis because their contributions are assumed to be negligible. Here, we established experimentally and theoretically that contributions of axons to EFPs can be signi...
متن کاملGeneralise Projections for Strictness Analysis ( Extended
We show how Wadler and Hughes's use of Scott projections to describe properties of functions (\Projections for Strictness Analysis", FPCA 1987) can be generalised by the use of partial equivalence relations. We describe an analysis (in the form of an abstract interpretation) for identifying such properties for functions deened in the simply typed-calculus. Our analysis has a very simple proof o...
متن کاملFeature inheritance versus extended projections
This article will show that the empirical data that Chomsky (2008) provides in favor of feature inheritance and parallel movement are rather suspect, and that there are both empirical and conceptual reasons to reject this implementation of the idea that the formal features in C and T originate in a single head position. This does not imply, however, that the latter idea should be completely rej...
